And since it is located in an entirely different continent, you may find it very challenging to receive an acceptance letter from a UK-based institution.
The acceptance rate for international students at Cambridge is Many students, especially those who are not fully confident with their transcript, test scores and the rest of their application, get intimidated by the low acceptance rates at top-notch colleges and universities in the US. Selective schools outside the nation have some of the lowest acceptance rates, too. Case in point: the acceptance rate at the University of Cambridge, which accounts to less than a quarter of all applicants.
However, its acceptance rate is not the lowest on the planet. There are many higher education institutions with lower acceptance rates than Cambridge University. It is a web-based platform through which everyone who wishes to study in the UK has to apply. In the US, two of the most popular and widely used application systems by students applying to colleges and universities are the Common App and Coalition App.
Some schools accept only one, while others accept both. However, it is older than the Coalition App, which was created in It was only in when a UCAS app for mobile devices was invented. The system, after gathering some personal details, will provide you with a username. You will then have to create a password and set your security questions. Also, you will have to add the buzzword your high school has provided, if available. All mandatory questions should be answered.
Needless to say, skipping any of them is not allowed. Some questions are specific for UK residents only. Some important details you will have to provide include personal circumstances, funding your studies abroad and residency status. Then you should provide all your qualifications when completing UCAS. You should also include any qualifications even if you are waiting for further details such as exams and grades.
UCAS will ask you to provide information if you have had any paid jobs, be it part-time or full-time.
You can enter up to five different jobs and their respective details. If your first language isn't English, you may also be asked to achieve a specific English language requirement as part of the conditions of your offer.
The level of tuition fees for international students varies depending on the course you are studying.
In addition to University tuition fees, all overseas fee status students normally have to pay College fees. Full details can be found at in the International students finance section. The amount of financial support available for international students is very limited, but at Cambridge this includes Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust awards; College awards; and a small number of country-specific scholarships.
Few full scholarships are available at undergraduate level, and most support is a partial contribution to your overall costs and is means-tested. For more information see the International students section.
Is the application process the same for applicants from countries outside the UK? International applicants need to submit a UCAS application and an additional questionnaire. Each year the University conducts interviews in certain overseas countries. If you would like to be considered for an interview in one of these countries an earlier application deadline may apply.

Both universities are made up of individual colleges, as well as different academic departments. Academic departments are responsible for core teaching and assessment and colleges provide academic and pastoral support, and arrange small group tuition — sometimes with a tutor or supervisor from another college.
Each college will have a diverse range of students studying across a range of subject areas and academic levels. The college system offers the benefits of a smaller, interdisciplinary academic college community while belonging to a large, internationally renowned university. Each college offers the same excellent standard of teaching and the same high academic standards. You will have access to your college's facilities, such as an extensive library and IT provision, as well as the resources of the wider university.
However, you may be interviewed by more than one college and you may receive an offer from a different college than you applied to.
Teaching methods are similar at both universities, with lectures, seminars, classes and laboratory work as appropriate for your course. Oxbridge students also benefit from highly personalised teaching time with experts in their subject. Oxford calls them 'tutorials', while Cambridge calls them 'supervisions'. Sessions may happen as frequently as once or even twice each week, depending on your course. For example, evidence you can study independently, are willing to embrace new ideas, and can explore and discuss ideas and opinions in a logical and considered way.
Please check with the relevant university. Many Oxbridge applicants are predicted to achieve top grades and have excellent references. Each university has a slightly different approach to differentiating between applicants. Make sure you expect to achieve the required grades for your chosen course.
There may be specific subject requirements for particular courses, especially in the sciences. Certain grades may be required at Higher Level. You can check these in the course requirements on Oxford or Cambridge university websites.
